Privacy policy

Pintdle has no accounts and asks for no personal details to play. This page explains the small amount of data the game does use.

Stored in your browser

When you first open Pintdle, a random identifier is created and saved in your browser's local storage. It is a string of random characters, not linked to your name, email or anything else about you. Alongside it, your browser stores the result of the last puzzle you finished, so your score and streak survive a refresh, and a nickname if you set one.

You can remove all of this at any time by clearing site data for pintdle.com in your browser. Doing so resets your streak and starts you off as a new player.

Stored on the server

When you play or vote, Pintdle records the puzzle date, your picks and your score. It also stores a one-way hashed version of your browser identifier and a one-way hashed version of your IP address. The raw IP address is never written down. These hashes exist only to keep the daily game fair: one play per person per day, no vote-stuffing, and a block list for repeat rule-breakers.

Play and vote history is kept so streaks and community averages work. It is not sold or shared, and it is not used to build a profile of you.

Drinks you submit

If you submit a drink, the photo and the details you type (drink name, venue, country and price) are stored and may be shown publicly to other players. Please don't submit photos that show people's faces, licence plates, receipts or anything else private. Submissions that are turned down are deleted after about a week.

Advertising

Pintdle may show ads to cover its running costs. When ads are running, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Pintdle and to other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google in your Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. Google's own explanation of how it uses data from sites that show its ads is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Analytics

Pintdle uses Google Search Console, which reports aggregate, anonymised search statistics and does not set cookies on your device.

Children

Pintdle is about bar drinks and is intended for adults who are of legal drinking age where they live. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
